Web site Customer Information Privacy Policy

Community Bank respects the privacy of our customers. We are committed to protecting the information on our web site with the same amount of care that we use for all transactions with Community Bank. We do not automatically collect personal information from visitors to our web site. We have implemented the safety measures listed below to ensure your privacy and to protect your personal financial information from unauthorized access.

Access Codes

An access code consists of a User ID and a Password. No one can access the web site to find out about your financial dealings with Community Bank unless they have both your User ID and Password. You should treat your User ID and Password with the same degree of care and secrecy as you treat your PIN number and your other sensitive data.

Time-out Feature

In those areas where you are required to login to access financial information we provide a time-out feature. This feature automatically logs you out of your session after an extended period of inactivity on our site. After you have finished accessing your personal financial information you should explicitly log off rather than waiting for the time out feature to occur.

Firewall and Activity Logs

Firewalls analyze the source and destination addresses and the traffic type to ensure that only authorized users have access to our systems. Activity logs are reviewed to find anything that appears out of the ordinary.

Cryptography

Encryption is a process we use to lock and unlock conversations between your browser and our server in such a way that we both can encrypt and decode the conversations, preventing others from understanding them. Whenever possible, we use the strongest browser encryption technology available.

Cookies 

Cookies are small pieces of information the web site stores on a visitor’s web browser to emind the site about the visitor the next time they visit the site. Community Bank does not store confidential or sensitive information in cookies. We use cookies to enhance our customers' banking session by making navigation easier. For the Internet Banking application cookies are a requirement because they help protect our customer’s transactions.

Virus Protection

Community Bank uses the most up-to-date technology to protect our internal systems and your personal financial information from computer viruses. For the protection of your personal system we recommend you implement the following measures. 

  • Install and periodically update a virus protection software package to detect and eliminate potential viruses on you computer.
  • Use only a current web browser that is certified for secure and private transactions. It is also important to periodically visit your browsers web site and install any necessary updates or patches to keep your browser up to date for the best protection.
  • Install the appropriate updates available for your operating system, especially those related to security.
  • Avoid downloading applications from unknown sources or opening unsolicited e-mail attachments. 

More Privacy Information

Community Bank recognizes the importance of respecting the privacy of our customers and applicants, and we want to assure you that any information Community Bank gathers will be used for its own business needs. Community Bank will not sell or share any information we learn about you, other than as described below, and Community Bank will gather only information it needs to serve you better.

Community Bank also recognizes the need for security, which is why we have security standards and procedures in place to protect against unauthorized disclosure of information or access to information about you. In addition, we limit employee access to personally identifiable information to those employees who have a business purpose for having access to such information.

Does Community Bank collect personal information?

Yes, Community Bank obtains personal information in three ways:

1. Your application and/or account opening

Community Bank’s principal business is to offer a wide range of banking services such as loans, checking accounts, and savings accounts. In order to provide your service, we may ask you to provide us with some or all of the following information:

  • Name
  • Mailing addresses
  • Social security number
  • Number of dependents and birthdates
  • Occupation
  • Income
  • Home and business phone numbers
  • Whether you own or rent your residence, and
  • Whether you have a checking and savings accounts

We may request additional financial information in order to provide you credit advice. In addition, we may request information that helps us keep your account secure. We use the information you give us to optimize the services we offer, evaluate your creditworthiness, and prevent fraud. We will not be able to process your application if you do not provide us with the information requested on the application.

2. Your credit bureau reports

We recognize that you may have concerns about the security of your personal information. As part of an application for credit or the opening of an account, you expressly authorize us to obtain a credit bureau report for our use in evaluating your application and subsequently in connection with our periodic review of your account relationship(s) with us, a requested change to your account(s) or a change in or renewal of a credit line. The credit report contains information about your credit history and is one of the tools we use to protect you from fraudulent conduct. As discussed below, you have certain rights regarding your credit bureau reports. Depending on the credit product for which you apply, we may request additional authorizations to obtain information, such as confirmation of employment.

3. Your statement and communications with Community Bank. 

Upon opening an account, we track your transactions including where and when you access your account in order to prepare your monthly statement, and to protect you from fraudulent use of your account. In addition, we keep track of when and why you write or speak with us regarding your account. This allows us to provide consistent quality service.

How does Community Bank use personal information?

Community Bank uses personal information several ways:

First, as noted above, Community Bank uses the information to evaluate your request to pen an account or determine whether to issue credit. Thereafter, we use the information to provide our customers with the highest level of service and protect our customers from fraudulent use of the account.

Second, Community Bank is always looking for opportunities to provide value to our customers by making available offers of goods and services that are suited to the needs and interests of our customers. When we identify an interesting opportunity, we review our customer base to identify those customers who we think would be most interested in that opportunity. We compile a list of customers that we use in two ways:

(a) We include the offers for goods or services with our customers’ monthly statements which results in no sharing of information with third parties; or 

(b) We arrange to extend the offers of goods or services to our customers by direct mail. The actual sending of the offer may be conducted by third party processors or vendors. We require that these third parties hold the information we provide in the strictest confidence. The third party cannot use the list for any purpose other than the particular offer of goods or services for which it was provided. We limit the information we provide to third parties to the information necessary to make the offer to our customers. Generally, the information is confined to your name and address.

Third, Community Bank, like most if not all banks, shares our experience with you with credit bureaus. Our reporting to the credit bureaus is governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act you have the right to make sure that your credit reports are correct and accurate.

Fourth, we will disclose your personal information in response to a lawful request issued by a court, government agency, or regulatory authority with jurisdiction to make the request.

Do I have to get the offers of goods or services?

No, Community Bank lets you decide if you want to or do not want to receive these offers of goods and services. You may choose to opt out of receipt of offers through the mail. You may choose not to receive the offers of goods and services that we make available to our customers by writing to us at Community Bank, , P. O. Box 357, Carmichaels, PA 15320 or calling us at (888) 223-8099. Please include your name, address and account number. It will take approximately 60 days to remove your name from our lists. In addition, you may elect not to receive offers from others by contacting the Direct Marketing Association.

You may also choose not to allow Community Bank to share credit bureau information, information from your application and information obtained from third parties by writing us at Community Bank, , P. O. Box 357, Carmichaels, PA 15320. This right is provided to you under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

What are credit bureaus?

Credit bureaus are private organizations that compile your credit history and make that information available to lenders to assess potential borrowers’ creditworthiness. We provide the credit bureaus with information regarding the status of your account. You may contact the credit bureaus as follows:

The national credit bureaus offer a toll-free number to opt-out of all pre-approved credit offers ith just one phone call. Call 1-888-5-OPTOUT (1-888-567-8688) for more information.

To the extent that you believe that we have inaccurately provided information to a credit bureau, please contact us by writing Community Bank, N.A., P. O. Box 357, Carmichaels, PA 15320. Please provide us with your account number as well as all other information you believe we should know about the situation. We will investigate and respond to you within 30 days.

How do I know that the credit bureaus have the correct information?

Your rights are governed under the Fair Credit Reporting Act and vary depending on whether an action has been taken as a result of a bureau report. In the event that you want your credit bureau report, you may request it by contacting the particular credit bureau. If you have been denied credit based on information in a particular credit bureau report, you are entitled to a free copy of your credit report from that credit bureau, provided you ask that bureau for a report within 60 days of the notice to you. In some circumstances you may have to pay a fee to get the report. You also have the right to challenge the accuracy of the information contained on your report.

Do I have access to my information?

Yes, you have the right to obtain information about you including your application and details of your account use. If you believe there is an error or you have a question about your account(s), write us at Community Bank, N.A., P. O. Box 357, Carmichaels, PA 15320. Write to us as soon as possible after you become aware of the possible problem. We must hear from you no later than 60 days after we sent you the first bill or statement on which the error or problem appeared. You can telephone us, but doing so will not preserve your rights.

In your letter give us the following information:

· Your name and account number.
· The dollar amount of the suspected error.
· Describe the error and explain, if you can, why you believe there is an error.

If you need more information, describe the item you are not sure about. We will respond to you within 30 days.

What if I have a question or problem?

Community Bank is committed to preserving the privacy of our customers. We have escribed the manner in which we collect and use personal information. We provide you with a choice regarding the use of personal information.
